An alternative to traditional sources of funds to finance your education, Xtra Credit is a private student loan designed exclusively for undergraduate and graduate students. You must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis at an eligible college or university. There is no degree program requirement or satisfactory academic progress requirement. If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, meet specific credit requirements and have a satisfactory credit history, you may borrow up to $130,000 to underwrite your undergraduate educational needs and up to $225,000 for your graduate educational needs (see credit agreement for terms and conditions). You can also use your loan proceeds to cover previous account balances up to one year. Employment verification is required and will be collected during the application process. Xtra Credit pre-approvals are conditional upon a review of any outstanding accounts you may have. Please be advised the pre-approval decision may be changed at the lender's discretion.

To help reduce overall debt, monthly payments are suggested, but not required, during the in-school period and the subsequent six month grace period.
Xtra Credit also provides up to 48 months of deferment for internships and residencies.
